About Us

We are a mixed bowls club with about 80 members with an annual subscription set at a very reasonable rate. Players who are new to the Club in 2025 will  enjoy a reduced membership subscription of £50 for the first year and will also be eligible for three free coaching sessions before deciding whether or not to join.

The club is affiliated to the Somerset Bowls Association. Our Ladies' team play in the Victoria league on mid-week afternoons and the new Somerset league on Saturday mornings, while the men play in both the Somerset County league on Saturdays and the Weston and District Over-55s league mid-week usually in the afternoon. The club also plays mixed friendly games within the county and against touring teams.

Club evenings during the outdoor season are held at the club on Mondays (Umbrella competition) and Thursdays (social mixed bowling). The evening sessions start at 6.00pm at the height of the summer to make the most of the evening light. In Spring, late August and September they start at 5.30pm. Pop in and say hello to see if you think that bowls could be the very thing that you are looking for!

During the winter months the club hosts short mat bowls on two indoor mats. Currently we play on Monday evenings and Thursday afternoons. We also take part in a local short mat league.

During the summer months we have qualified bowling coaches on hand to get you started with one-to-one coaching sessions. This could be the start of your bowling career! All you need to get started are a pair of flat-soled shoes or trainers. The club can provide you with bowls until you reach the point where you might want to buy your own set of bowls, new or second-hand. You do not need to be any particular age to start. We are happy to have youngsters learning to bowl (with their parent's/guardian's permission) while some older players continue to play competitively well into their 80s.
